Texas Character Education Day Celebration
November 15, 2019
On November 15, 2019, we celebrated the inaugural Texas Character Education Day at the School of Science and Technology. Parents, students, staff, elected officials and community partners came together to embrace the importance of Character Education. We were honored to have been part of this beautiful celebration and we look forward to our continued work in advancing Social and Emotional Learning and Character Education in all of our schools. There is a poster contest for all students preK through college to participate and show artistic, imaginative, and creative talent with a “Positive & Original” poster design about Color the World with Character. Submit your original art that contains at least one character trait of Caring, Integrity, Responsibility, Citizenship, and Leadership here. Application deadline is December 17th, 2019.

November 11, 2019
Irene Greaves was invited to share her work at Dr. Beverly Barrett’s Master class in Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) alongside Mia Bradford, Director of HISD’s Project Explore. We shared with the students our work in schools and our vision for Lovescaping® to become a core component of our education systems. Some students are interested in and doing research in education policy and we had a great session followed by a Q&A where we received invaluable feedback and support for our work!

Latinos for Education “Latinx Pitch Competition”
October 25-26, 2019
Boston, MA
Irene Greaves was selected as one of the 10 nationwide finalists that made it to Latinos for Education Latinx Pitch Competition! Irene shared Lovescaping® during a 3-minute pitch (watch below) to a panel of judges and community members. The experience was enlightening! We had the great privilege to listen to Rise Colorado’s Co-Founder and CEO Veronica Crespin-Palmer’s keynote speech, which empowered us all. Veronica is a living example of what Latinx leaders can achieve if they are given the right tools and opportunities to transform their communities. We are inspired and proud to know our fellow Edupreneurs who are doing transformative work in their communities. We congratulate the winners and look forward to supporting each other’s work and lifting each other up! We walked away with new friends, amazing connections, tools, resources and a cash prize that are helping us continue and grow Lovescaping®.
SEL Convening in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico
October 22-24, 2019
As part of the Novo Foundation, Education First and Rockefeller Philanthropy grant we obtained earlier in the year, we were invited to attend the SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) Convening in New Mexico. We had the great privilege of meeting Dr. Monique Morris, who delivered an inspirational keynote and had the opportunity to watch her documentary “PUSHOUT: The
Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools.”
Wisdom High School
Irene and Garrett Reed from Wisdom High School led a Lovescaping® breakout session to a group of educators, principals, social workers and others. The session was a total success! Many participants told us that the Lovescaping® session was their favorite! We are so grateful and we look forward to growing, sharing resources and cultivating love across the country and the
world!
